Unfortunately I think there are more "Singles," fans out there for her than die hards. With all of that in mind, Alica did a great job, and I would definitely recommend going to see her perform, because she has an incredible voice.. New York Yankees ace, Chien-Ming Wang, injured his right foot running the bases last Sunday in a 13-0 inter-league win versus the Astros at Minute Made Park in Houston.Wang, 28, who is 54-20 since debuting in the Bronx in 2005, suffered a mid-foot sprain and a partial ligament tear. He will be on the disabled list until at least September with his injuries.Wang's wounds severely chapped the ass of the Bomber's brazen, chain-smoking owner, Hank Steinbrenner, who faults the National League and their rules for his pitcher's bummed hoof."My only message is simple,” Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. “The National League needs to join the 21st century.”After providing his evolutionary vision, Hankenstein continued and claimed that he is not alone with his gripes. "This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they're not used to doing it," Steinbrenner said "It's not just us It's everybody.
It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. “I haven't seen an injury while running the bases happen to another pitcher. I think it's somewhat of a freak accident." Hank needs to relax and take a drag of one of his smokes and exhale. This is baseball and, as we all learned in the movie A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball.”. June 17, 2008, 3:00 AM.
It was on this date and at this time that the Mets fired their manager, Willie Randolph. At the time that Randolph was fired, the Mets were 34-35, 6.5 games back in the NL East, and 7.0 games back in the Wild Card Race.It became almost inevitable that Randolph would be fired over three weeks ago when the Mets returned from a 1-6 road trip. Upon returning home, the Mets' play improved, but it was only short-lived.After a win in Anaheim, Randolph spoke to the press as he did after every game. He didn't seem worried, because he didn't see his termination coming. As Randolph stated to the press, "It was a nice all-around victory for us, some guys swung the bats a little bit, we added on some runs, played good defense and got some good pitching." Mets GM Omar Minaya was standing right behind him with a sharpened blade that was ready to go through Randolph's back.Did we mention that Randolph's termination took place in ANAHEIM, which is 28,000 miles away from the Mets' front office?Did we also mention that it happened after a WIN at 3:00 AM?Bench coach Jerry Manuel has been appointed as the interim manager. Right now, the Mets are 35-36, 5.5 games back in the NL East, and 5.5 games back in the Wild Card standings..
Pawtucket Red Sox manager Ron Johnson would rather walk in his bare feet on a bed of hot coals rather than publicly criticize one of his players.Johnson didn?t deviate Thursday night after the Columbus Clippers edged the PawSox, 4-3, due in large part to Gil Velazquez?s inability to execute in two key situations.Pawtucket led 1-0 entering the seventh (thanks to Jeff Bailey?s third-inning homer) when Yurendell deCaster led with a single off reliever Lincoln Holdzkom (5-2).Then, in an obvious sacrifice bunt situation, Ray Olmedo dropped a bunt down third. At the least, Velazquez should have gotten one out (given Olmedo?s speed, his best bet was a force at second). But Velazquez inexplicably ate the ball and the Clippers wound up scoring four runs in the inning.?He?s made so many good plays for us this year that we?ll kind of get into it later,? said Johnson ?I couldn?t tell (what Velazquez was thinking). I have enough confidence in his judgment that when he tells me what he was thinking, I?m in.?That was just one of those things.
